Just finished the 5th and seemingly final Joe Ledger book (by Jonathan Maberry) and read by Ray Porter - I have to say, for a series, this ended as my favorite. For another series, The Jack Reacher Series is a great group of books, but some had failed in the latter books as exciting, and there is nothing not exciting about Jack Reacher - don't measure Reacher by the ridiculous portrayal by Tom Cruise in the movie.
Reacher in the books: 6ft5in 240-250lbs solid, smart and fast. His stature humbles people, nothing about Tom Cruise humbles anyone.
But back to Joe Ledger, a kicka$$ special forces leader with an awesome team, powerful influential and connected people in the Warehouse which was ground zero of the the DMS - Department of Medical Science, the official name of the group Ledger was captain.
So book 5, this one dealing with collected UFO (the black triangle kind) which were both reconstructed originals using what were called Truman Parts, as well as complete man-made craft built by blue-prints secretly smuggled out of China to the USA. Ledgers team's objective, stop the use of these mach 20+ craft before one country and a band of dooms day preppers started an alien inspired end of the world scenario.
Enough said. Book 1 through 5 dealth with man-engineered zombies, super-human fighting forces, vampires bread from generations of selective mating, aliens, and a few other creatures not seen before in books.
All in all, I hope more books follow, and although this was a 2012-13 book to audiobook, it was written as if it were the last. Hope Jon Maberry has a 6th up his sleeve.
