Bud 7 in Macon Mississippi 4/11 and 4/12 2015
« on: December 27, 2014, 11:04:45 am »
Plans are in the works for another great weekend at Buds on April 11th and 12th at Buds place in Macon Mississippi. It has always been a great weekend with experienced beekeepers and novices alike joining in on handson experience of shaking swarms, doing splits, learning the process of doing cutouts, not to mention just a good chance to meet some great people.
Now mind ya, this is typical swarm season for Buds area, but nature can always throw a wrench in somewhere. She has been very kind bee wise for the most part in events past.
I will try to keep this updated as nmore info becomes available, and I'm sure JP will chime in here too!

Here is the lowdown on directions to Buds if you set out on this fun packed weekend:

Here is directions to Buds from different points in the Southern region:

pretty  much the only game in town, although there was something right in town that someone used last year.  maybe they will post.

make reservations early and often.  not a joke   :-D  last years some of us found that our reservations had gone missing and we were fortunate to have confirmed before we left.  the first year I stayed there, they were putting people up from a tornado and rooms were all booked.  if i had not had my reservation, I would have been sharing a bed with someone.

Not a bad place.  clean both times I have stayed.  Breakfast is iffy, but there is coffee at least.  Not far from Buds house.

I would like to shout out to everyone and encourage anyone that has not made the trip to buds before, try and make it to the event this year. Lots of fun and many friendships are made there. Mark me and my family down as coming. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone.

I am really hoping to make it this year!  I was curious about the potential to pitch a tent, dry ground and all that?  I might opt for the hotel, but if camping is available.

Don't try to book that hotel in Macon online.  Call.  They often show full when they are not

i'm still kicking around coming.  has anyone had luck reaching that Oak Tree Inn in Macon?  I keep finding them listed as closed, but have not called them directly yet.
also, someone got a room elsewhere?  where was that?

all these decisions....... :cheesy:

Kathy,
I tried several times to make reservations at this hotel. Both sites that I used would find this location but when I set the dates it would always offer other hotels further away. Like you, I never did try calling them.
