Sources for unprocessed comb for wax rendering?
« on: June 20, 2008, 12:44:29 pm »
My friend J worked at his father's wax factory in New York for several years. Now that I have honeybees he is interested in experimenting with processing wax on a small scale.

This is my first year and I have only one hive, so we need to get combs from other sources. If you don't process or recycle your combs, would you be willing to give away or sell the leftovers after harvest? How much leftover raw material do you have after a harvest? I'm looking for estimates of availability and amounts to see if local beeks might be a reasonable source, or what other reasonable resources might be available.

Any ideas? Anyone tried processing and selling beeswax?
