Title: Messerschmitt Me 262 / engine start / original sound
Post by: Ben Framed on May 12, 2021, 11:36:09 pm

The advanced technology that was of Germany is mind boggling. Had they waited a few extra years to perfect this technology___________________  I dare not fill in the blank.

Yes, they are jet turbines Member. These people were brilliant in technology. Far advanced in many areas. To bad all that brilliance was not used for good. Sad isn't it.

It reminds me of Wernher von Braun and Nazi rocketry program, terrifying to think what could have happened if the Germans had been able to develop ICBMs.   But von Braun surrendered to the Americans when the war ended, came to America and became a US citizen, and helped to start NASA and the US space program.

Yes all true, a very brilliant man. Germany had several genius minded scientist which lead to way in technology. Isn't is amazing that a people so oppressed coming out of WWI rose so quickly to power? We, as a nation, should learn from this history. There are other fascist minded countries rising from oppression even as we speak, which also have brilliant minded scientist. China for one example.

Absolutely.

China isn't fascist though; Communist, yes, but not fascist.  By my understanding, fascism is in favor of capitalism and private ownership of businesses, although it maintains strict government regulations on the private sector.

You may be correct. My understanding is China is a Fascist-Communist country . Many of their corporations are particularly privately owned yet the communist government have their hand in it. This includes most every aspect including their shipping?

Kind of.  Fascism allows for private business but only to the extent that it is to the benefit of the government and does as it is told.  The difference between this and Socialism is that in Socialist/Communist economies the government actually takes over and runs the business.  It's kind of a fine distinction.  Chinas economic model has changed in the last few decades.  Their economic system is more Fascist than Communist now.  It is still a dictatorship and everything is controlled by the govenrment.

The end result is the same.  One way or another the government is controlling businesses and the economy.

That's why I always laugh when people scream Hitler and Fascist and then go on to act like Hitler and Fascists.  No wonder they don't want history taught to kids anymore.

Thanks for the clarification, Kathy.

Lol.  You are welcome, but it's not much of a clarification.  Fascism is not just one thing.  It was not the same in Italy as in Germany or Spain. A dictatorship is a dictatorship whatever they call it though and the end result is the same.   The only reason the idea of Fascism being a counter to Communism got started was that it was seen as a counter in the 20's and 30's.  It wasn't.  It was the same only separated by a few degrees.

No really, it was helpful.  It's confusing because a lot of people kind of either rope fascism and communism together or tend to separate them at opposite ends of the ideological spectrum, and it seems like it's more complicated than that.  My family and I watched a movie set in Nazi Germany a few weeks ago.  It was okay, but not great, and we got to talking about fascism vs. communism instead of about the plot of the movie, and from some of the things I read when researching a little bit, it seems like fascism never really was an economic system at its core, unlike communism which has socialism as its central tenet, which would explain why fascism took on different forms in different countries, because it was more focused on militant nationalism than anything logistical.

I think the dictatorship of fascism is a step above communism from the dictators point of view.  They realize that if they give back "some" of what the entupiner earns, he will be more inclined to continue trying to succeed which in return brings in more dividends for the elites at the top. As where communism is take all an distribute, leaving little incentive for more production from the poor working class. The chinese finally realized this and transformed somewhat as Kathy explained, leaving a fascist-communist way of government.  Either way its a form of slavery..... In my opinion.....
