Title: Washing bee suits and veils
Post by: Jim134 on July 02, 2016, 11:19:30 pm
I always heard it said bee suits should be washed alone and veils should be washed by hand. I was wondering if anybody ever tried a product like this for washed their veils and put it on gentle in a regular washing machine with Woolite

My wife washes our suits, hood and all in the washing machine on the gentle/hand wash cycle with All.
They come out just fine and we hang dry them in the garage.

We do the hand wash cycle also. Any suggestions for getting propolis off the gloves?

Good luck getting propolis off the gloves. It will dissolve in alcohol.

I wash the veil and hat by scrubbing them with dishwashing soap and rinsing them with a hose in the back yard. The suit goes through the washer in cold water with no softener and air dries.
After working a aggressive hive I'll wash the veil to remove any alarm phernomes left from bumping bees.

I tuck the veil inside the suit and zip it up tight, wash the whole thing on gentle with my regular laundry detergent, hang outside to dry.

I just throw mine in with jeans and wash as usual. Just zip it up with the hood zipped on. Throw in drier with softener sheet. Never have problems. Wash mine after overhead cutouts or if smells from sweat. Mostly during hot times I'm using the Nat jacket used by fisherman. That I hand wash in sink and hang in shower to dry overnight.

I bleach the jacket and hand wash the veil.
