It may be the first report of it in BC.  The phorid flies were first reported four years ago in parts of North America.  Interestingly enough this happened right after they introduced florid flies to control fire ants.  They claim it's a different kind of phorid fly, but we didn't have them before...

A similar fly/larva infestation was reported in New Hampshire in 1869.  I am posting a link to our Guilford County forum with a copy of the American Bee Journal article attached.
