Legalities of hobby hives on public land
« on: March 17, 2010, 10:21:09 am »
Hi Everybody,

I'm currently negotiating with my local council to put some hives ona few acres of land that they have in the middle of, pretty much, nowhere. It's surrounded by a creek and a river with lots of native eucalypt vegetation on the banks and a large grass open area in the centre. Up one end is a narrow section of land (about 100m wide) where you can access this area. I was planning on putting signs up warning bee hives were in the area etc and also bunting around where the hives actually are... no one ever goes there. What i'm wondering though is what are the legal issues? if someone gets stung could they sue me? if they pull a hive apart and get stung would i be responsible? any advice appreciated
