Phil, it looks like Kraft is now an independently owned company, whatever that means, so you might not have to go on strike just yet.
I'll send you a copy of our Dick Smith Foods correspondence privately.  They also sent me a product list, which mainly includes 5 kinds of peanut butter (also Kraft imitations), and the odd biscuit or cream cheese.  I suppose we have too high expectations on a company with Dick Smith in its name, but I reckon that even on a small scale, more can be done to utilize local australian produce other than peanuts, cereal, and the odd berry for the Bush Foods Breakfast Cereal.  A whole citrus orchard was cut down here because they couldn't get rid of the fruit.  A lot of our best produce goes overseas, and for some reason, we import the same kinds of fruits and vegetables we grow here.  I will say though that they are to be commended assuming they are using Australian packaging and plastics, and still keeping the price to the level of companies using plastics made in cheap labour countries.

This reminds me the irish joke when Molly comes home in distress and her father asks her what is wrong; whatever it is, they can work it out.  So Molly says, "Fither, it is a terrible thing to tell you, but I'm pregnant".  Her father looks stunned for a moment, "Oh, that is not so good, Molly dear", then he says, "Well and are you sure that it's yours?"

Nettie dear, I think you have missed one very vital point.  Vegemite has many many health benefits, and you too will be sure to grow at least half a metre in height and probably grow hair on your chest.  Look at Barra as a shining example, how healthy and robust he has become.  If you carefully examine the label on your little jar, you will see it contains folate.  As everyone knows, this is good for pregnancy.  In short, if you don't have any children now, you soon will have.  Keep eating it  :)
Malvern Star

Annette, read the above, smiling.  I would certainly say that you must stop to eating this Vegemite, you are well past the age that you would want some little ones running around, what would your Husband say, AND....you don't want to grow another 1.5 feet high, now would ya, girl, stop eating the Vegemite.  Johnnybigfish has been awol for a while too, but he posted the other night, maybe he has new babies at his house too and he has been busy taking care of him   , my gracious!!!  Have that most beautiful day, of love and health.  Cindi
There are strange things done in the midnight sun by the men who moil for gold.  The Arctic trails have their secret tales that would make your blood run cold.  The Northern Lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see, what the night on the marge of Lake Lebarge, I cremated Sam McGee.  Robert Service

Lone,

Thanks for sending the letter. I think DS said in an interview a couple of years back, it was when I think another biscuit factory was closing down here in Melb and people were trying to get him to buy it up and keep it going, that he is not in the business of manufacturing, just in marketing. He contracts other (Aussie) companies to do the manufacturing.

It is not an attitude I am comfortable with personally and I would like to see a bit more innovation too.

Alright, I have read this entire thread and have to confess my curiosity. JBF, what does this stuff taste like to you, and does it smell bad?

Now about the testosterone injections, not going there my friend, but hey, good for you and the Mrs!

BLOODY BURSTING WITH GOODNESS!

Now butter!

Butter means a product derived exclusively from milk and products obtained from
milk, principally in the form of an emulsion of the type water-in-oil.
2 Composition of butter
(1) Butter must contain no less than 80.0% m/m milkfat.
(2) Butter may contain –
(a) water; and
(b) salt; and
(c) lactic acid producing micro-organisms; and
(d) flavour producing micro-organisms

Now you take ya Salada, put 3mm of butter on it, add 2mm vegemite, stick in freezer for 5 minutes to set, and voila, best fun you can have with clothes on. You can put butter and vegemite between two Saladas, or Saos, squeeze and make worms!

Now Micko dont go on with all that bullsjpt about what's in a salada just tell him what he needs to know. Vegemite is good with almost everything.

Now JP, for a vegemite sanger (sandwich) yoitu need a couplea slices of white bread, some butter andacourse vegemite. Ya dont want the butter to soak intathebread so its gotta be kinda stiff but not real stiff that ya cant spread it without tearing the bread apart. Gotit?

Then ya take a bit of vegie and spread it real thin over the butter, ya gotta see the butter through the vegie and also sometimes see only the vegemite

Then

Ya eat it.............................. yummo

Reckon you'll be right, Nettie mate.  Barra on the other hand will be at the stage of using a whipper snipper by now (refer to thread "Cindi's learning Strine").

If a salada contains all that, I'd say cardboard would be just as nutitious.  By the way, they feed the goldfish on saladas here every second day.  They had some that were 16 to 20 years old.

I can see you're the next one wanting aussie citizenship, JP.

Heck yeah, I'm ready to try vegemite, I think! I will try it for you guys and for Steve Irwin, I miss him something awful!

Do I have to eat it on white bread though, cause I stopped buying white bread, got a favorite multi grain bread I buy, will that work?

Hey JP!
I like it on a saltine too!
Ok,.....It tastes like....Thick soy sauce sort of....When you smell it, it smells familiar....Like an old dark beer..Its salty, but in a different sort of salty way.
My wife thinks its nasty...She thinks its just something that the ozzies use to tell Yanks to eat, then they laff at us!
I dont agree....For me, I was warned to take it lite...and I did....I HAD TO taste it several times before I could make up my mind..Its genuinely all its own!!!..Nothing like it!..When you spread it on a ritz, It looks like when you butter a toast and then spread cinnamon on it..Its dark! Like cake frosting!
Actually, I think youre gonna like it..Its strange, but good...Not spicy...Not too salty...Not too malty either...As for me, I can really slather it on a cracker now!..I havent tried it on buttered toast yet, But I'm sure I will!
Oh yeh....No aftertaste either..Thats why I think I had to try it several times(a sleeve of Ritz) till I could actually have the flavor in my mouth long enuff to decide what I thot!
I would eat it constantly, but a case cost 60.00 with freight..And the jars are about the size of the jars that boulion cubes come in!
Sooo,...Get it and spread it!...Then, give us a full report!

your friend,
Barra! :-D
