With climate change ... this is an alternative method of final disposition that won?t contribute emissions into our atmosphere,' the bill's author said

This seems wasteful.  If you can use it for compost, why not use it for food and save time?  If we are going down this road we might as well go all the way.  Didn't they make a movie about this?

I have some choices.  Horse is usually weedy by the time it has been out there a while.  even turned, in our environment I can't keep the weeds out of it.  Goat is great, but chicken stuff tea is my favorite for a quick shot to the plants.  You just have to dilute it a lot so you don't burn things.

Reagan,
Honey bees will visit one species of flower until it runs out. But that doesn?t mean that all of the bees in the hive are only visiting that one species. One group is going to one area, controlled by the scouts that found the flowers, and others are following where other scouts found a good source of nectar.

Beware of horse manure unless it's been aged for a few years, it comes with thistles that are impossible to contain.

Folks, it is getting to be that time of year at my location, so I thought I would give this a bump.

Mine are 4 ft long.  I have 3 deep frame and 2 medium frame.  Last year the medium frame ones were a couple frames from being full before I pulled several frames of honey.  The deep ones filled about two thirds of the box.  I do pull frames for splits throughout the year.

Thanks. We have a few cold and windy days upon us but starting Sunday, we have a week of temps into the 70s so I've got my fingers crossed. My neighbor's uncle is coming in to go through his hive this weekend to see if they need to split it. Poor guy had seven hives last year but only has one right now and he's worried I'm going to nab his swarm. I'm scheduled to pick up my nuc on Sunday.

I still keep one 30 deep frame long langstroth. That's the equivalent to 3 deep boxes on top of each other. I am using it as a nuc producer for selling 5 frame nucs.

Bob I don?t have long langs but I bet it is convenient to use this type box for making up 5 frame Nucs. Do you also have standard Langstroth hives?

Yeah, she's the best!   She tries to remember to be calm, and she does really think the bees are interesting, but they just get the best of her sometimes.

Terri those are nice!  I really hope you obtain your first bees soon!

She is scared of bees, and she got stung unfortunately.

Now that is a good mom! Even though she is scared she will still hang in there and take a sting to help her family! Good for Mom!
