Title: Beekeeping in Czech Republic
Post by: bzzigi on February 11, 2014, 08:26:12 am
Hello fellow beekepers from Czech Republic!
I am considering relocating to Czech Republic (Prague, more precisely) and I would like to know what are the basic regulations regarding apiary location.
Is it allowed to keep bees in populated areas (cities, suburbs, ...)  eg. in a backyard? How close to the city of Prague are people keeping bees?
I am a hobby beekeeper and I would like to continue with my hobby there so I need this info to find an appropriate accomodation.

Kind regards,
Bzzigi

Hi,
there is no problem to keep bees everywhere you want in Czech Republic, if you have permission of land owner and your neighbours do not protest. I think, bees are kept in the gardens all over Prague and suburbs. But be careful, most of town people are afraid of bees, so choose you site with care. About legislative process contact our http://www.vcelarstvi.cz/Bee Keepers Union (http://www.vcelarstvi.cz/Bee Keepers Union) or Beekepers Workgroup (http://www.psnv.cz/), because I donĀ“t know how can foreign people become beekeper here.
