Title: Allmost got one
Post by: WLF1961 on April 01, 2008, 09:04:54 pm
Well I was in the chicken yard and heard the buzzing and looked up and saw the swarm. Don't think they could have landed in a easier place to get to. About 4' off the ground on a small oak tree limb. Went to get my stuff(took about 15 min) came back and was walking up to make my attempt at my first swarm catch, got within 20' of them and poof, they took off again. That was one of the coolest things though being right there at the swarm when they took off. Well maybe I will get another shot at it soon.

Yeah, sometimes watching them swarm is as cool as getting the swarm, well, not quite, but they are quite something to experience.

Watching that is an incredible experience. You gained more than you lost. :)

Sincerely,

Two days ago, I posted about 4 swarms. One of them was a 911 call, the one on the window, with shudders. The guy next door made the call. He was up on his roof cleaning his gutters and he heard the noise...    The humming...

Of a swarm!!!   Saw them circling. The guy was frantic (not enjoying the swarm) 911 dispatcher connected me, and I walked him through it. I couldn't tell him to enjoy it cause he was acting like a scared lil school girl, so I told him they would land, which they did, right on his neighbor's window, well actually, they almost landed on him, then went to the neighbors.

There is nothing quite like the experience of a swarm, unless, you think a plague of bees has been sent your way, about to land in your lap!

JP, aha, ha, ha, that was funneee.  I picture this poor dude up on the ladder, the swarm a'comin' his way, nearly landing on him.  Whew, bet he was grateful when it passed him by.  I remember hearing of people that when a swarm is coming they run for cover.  Heard in that vein, that the swarms can land on the person themselves,  Eeks, now that would actually be pretty terrifying for someone that has not experience with the bees.  Beautiful day in this great life. If he sprayed water at the swarm they landed, guaranteed.  Where? That is the defining question.

They landed next door, on the neighbor's window. He called 911, they called me, and I boxed them up.
