Newbee new hive startup, very basic question
« on: September 27, 2009, 09:55:59 pm »
With no old anything, new built hive, new frames no foundation and some bare TBars. To start-up will a 2# package of Bees + Queen work? Or is a more expensive Nuc with Brood + Q?
ps: I am experimenting, just TBar vs TBar w/empty frame.
1, To see if the framed Top bars stay more attachment free.
2, To test if the frames are need to support to comb < the vertical depth 14" x 18.375" across.
Thanks

Anytime you want something other than large cell deep frames, packages are the way to go, unless you know someone doing what you are doing.  If you want natural comb, small cell, medium depth, or top bar hive, then it makes sense to just buy packages.
