Mite away
« on: October 24, 2020, 10:33:47 pm »
Hi friends  I have been waiting for weeks for the tempiture to get down under 92 degrees so that I could treat for mites. It finally cooled off this week we just have power outages because of high winds .Question I have is I only have 2 hives that survived one Is 2 medium box?s and it may have 10000 bees that they recommend. The other is a single medium I?m pretty sure there?s not but a couple thousand bees and I?m being genouis should I just put just 1 strip which is half of the prescribed amount.I hope to do this in the morning before the windstorm thanks.

I don't know how I got in this topic no wonder I didn't get any advice. For the record I killed my beautiful Queen in the small hive plus a few bees and a lot of capped brood. I think I could have split one strip of mite away in half and that would have been plenty of treatment so I wont do that again. The larger hive looks ok tomorrow i will pull the strips out hope the Queen is o.k.
