is this a good deal and do i need it?

I have two langstroth hives, each with two deeps and two medium supers.  I have the opportunity to buy 5 shallow supers - with frames - for $65.58 shipping included (all the way from texas to new york!).  Do i need these supers and is it a good deal?  thanks, justgojumit.

snowzerdog:
Are they new or used?

justgojumpit:
they are used.  this guy is getting out of beekeeping and needs to get rid of his equipment

Find out if his bees had any diseases.  You have to trust that there was no foulbrood or anything in those supers.

IF you're pretty sure, then it's a little cheaper than new.  Are you SURE you want shallow supers, though?  It's best to have all your future supers the same size, for parts exchanging.  It's not that great of a deal if you're going to have to change your plans to accomidate for a size of super that's not ideal for your situation.

jathomas, I've been thinking about this too.  I would like to stay with deeps for the brood and mediums for the supers, ideally, and since i have four mediums already, i think i might pass this one up and wait for some mediums to become available.  otherwise i could always buy new frames and just build the supers myself, paying close attention to measurements, of course.  I also want to try some foundationless frames, to see how they work.  it is a really good deal though... i'm torn...  :?
