How much does beeswax sell for?

(1/2) > >>

SouthAussieBeekeeper:
I've had a number of people ask to buy beeswax off me. I'm not sure how much it's worth, I see it being sold for as low as $20 a kilo and as high as $65 a kilo.

What sort of price range should I be selling it at if I'm selling small quantities directly to a consumer?

Acebird:
I looked up prices and found 6-12 bucks a pound American.

max2:
I notice that the price quoted in the " Beekeepers News" ( By Capilano )is $ 9 for Dirty wax and $ 15.80 for Light wax.

I sell clean wax from my cappings for $ 40/kg. We use no chemicals in our hives or during processing. People use it for cosmetics and wraps.Slightly dirty wax goes for less.

It takes about 8 kg of honey to make 1 kg of wax ( so we are told) - value it!

Acebird:
How does one measure the difference between light and dirty?
