Oxalic Acid Approved in Arkansas
« on: August 09, 2015, 11:13:49 am »
Oxalic Acid was approved by the EPA and USDA in March or 2015 but the state of Arkansas did not approve it until they received the paper work and held meetings on how it was to be used and applied.
The State of Arkansas Apiary Board has now approved Oxalic Acid as a treatment for the Varroa Mite.
I use the vapor method and will say it works and with no stress on the bees.
We can now treat for Varroa Mites and not break the pocket book.
I treated in March 2015 and will do the sugar roll test August 15th and treat in the 2nd week of September and do the second treatment 10 days later.
My bees are inspected every 90 days because I sell queens and I've got to say my mite count was very, very low this year.

Brushy Mountain keeps a running list going under the Oxalic Acid page at   http://www.brushymountainbeefarm.com/Oxalic-Acid/productinfo/727/
When another state is approved they are pretty good about getting it posted.
