Title: Lucy
Post by: sc-bee on February 05, 2015, 01:15:54 am
Scarlet Johansson and small support role Morgan Freeman--- Woman acidentally gets involve with a mob smuggling a mind altering drug. A little too far fetched and hokie for me. Sexy blond in sort of a matrix setting (but not exactly) I struggle and give it a 5.8. Definitely for the science fiction type with some shoot'em mob violence.

Thank for posting review.  I had thought about watching Lucy, but won't waste my time now.

I really liked the first few scenes where she does really smart things but it did get a bit hokey when she starts doing "magic" instead of just being really smart... I love a smart hero...  But then she wasn't always so smart... had the bad guy in a position to take him out and it cost quite a few lives because she didn't.  You didn't have to be Einstein to see that coming and save a lot of lives right there...

At the beginning I thought it had a lot of potential. Then when folks began falling out and floating on the ceiling ..... I just lost interest. From there it was a task to finish watching.

I liked the Doc Savage book series (they did one movie but didn't follow through with more) because he was just plain smart and developed his brain, his sense of smell, his sense of taste.  It was all about "smart" and "trained" and that has an appeal that goes beyond superheros.  The first movie I remember watching where the hero was actually doing smart things instead of stupid things was "3 days of the Condor".  Actually that might have been the last one as well as the first one... :)

I think the book the film was based on was about 6 days of the Condor.  I guess moviemakers have to speed things up.  But a great movie.
