Pic of drone, note the white eyes.
« on: April 10, 2019, 02:03:20 pm »
I thought I discovered a drone with white eyes.  After scoping, the white material is cocoon that was not yet removed by the nurse bees.  Bottom pic is jpeg, you are welcome to use.

I have been around bees a long time, since birth.  I am a hobbyist so my answers often reflect this fact.  I concentrate on genetics, raise my own queens by wet graft, nicot, with natural or II breeding.  I do not sell queens, I will give queens  for free but no shipping.

I once had a drone with bright neon-yellow eyes. After two weeks he was still around.

Mr Forest, those eyes are called chartreuse eyes.  Very rare, the eyes shine under a black light.

There are drones with white eyes.  They are not able to fly out to the DCA and do their job...

Is the true white eyed blind?

I have heard of white eyed drones but never seen one. As MB points out, it's a lethal mutation.

From what I've read, that's my understanding.
