And they're protected, I suppose.

Oh yea. There are millions of them but once environmentalists get something protected they do not let go.

Here is a picture of the same garden a week later.

Looks nice Jim.  What are you using to till the soil?

I used a heavy duty walk behind tiller to get it cleared. My wife uses a hand held 2 cycle tiller to keep it cleared.

Ah, Stop with the 2 cycle tiller.  You are polluting your vegetables and killing the worms.  At the very least use a 4 cycle.  You have a tractor.  I was thinking you would use a bottom plow.

I used to do that but Judy never liked how it worked out on her first garden and there are always spices plants that remain in the way of using a tractor. I did use the tractor for the first prep work to clear, turn and disc the garden.

So jealous! Shutting it down for the winter here. Put mulch down on the new flower beds and privacy wall for the neighbors and sitting reading the internet  and drinking fresh pressed apple cider. OK maybe it isn?t so bad

Why do wives do this?  Spices and flowers can grow in pots even elevated if you want so you can move them out of the way.  I convinced my wife to keep these things out of the way of the tractor mostly because she did not like weeding and if I were going to do it, it was going to be done mostly by machine.

Another update on the garden.

This was taken yesterday.

Notice the plastic on the left side of the beans, I had to cover them to protect them from the frost last week.

Back to the 80's tomorrow Jim... so much for a winter blast.  Check the weather in Utica to get your bearings on what a blast is.  Man, did we get out in time.

Are you on your way south now? Are you going to stop by on your way?

I have been down here a couple of weeks.  I changed my profile location.  We took the auto train.

How did that work out?
Would you do it again?
How does the cost compare to driving?
