This hive was in the wall void, entrance approximately one and a half feet from the ground but the bees were going straight up, all the way to the top plate about 15' up.

Another great video.  Being one who has never opened up lap boards, would it have been easier to take the top board off first and work your way down, or could the comb be attached to to top board?   And does anyone ever ask why you were talking to yourself before they see your video camera?

Allen, after I had surmised that the hive was indeed attached to the top plate, I thought it best to remove the hive from the bottom up.

If the hive is attached to the lap boards you could pull the top of the hive off by removing the first board, leading to honey dripping on the comb sections below.
