Bought one of these this afternoon (used, obviously). Seems in great shape though I plan to completely disassemble, clean, and re-lube. Serial number CH01xx. Does anyone here know where I may find an owner's manual/parts drawing? Thanks. -James

24 Deeps, 44 Mediums/Shallows (I think). There is just no information about this machine on the internet. I've disassembled and cleaned it and am now putting it back together but I prefer to do such things with the assistance of a manual and drawings. It has two flange bearings - Browning FB250. The one at the bottom seemed totally rusted and was very difficult to get off the stainless spindle. I've purchased a replacement that is made of stainless steel and cleaned up the top bearing and replaced the grease with food grade grease. I'd really like to get into the motor and check the brushes but that will have to wait. -james

Wow, 44 mediums. Sounds like you know what you are doing. If the motor is starting up every time, I would not worry about it. The 6 volt starter on my 12 volt Ford tractor fowls up a lot. I don?t rebuild it until it starts having trouble starting.
If it holds 24 deeps, then it probably holds 48 mediums. It is usually double.

Thanks. I got the counts from the numbers of slots. I really need to load it up with empty frames to verify.

Acebird: eBay. I found a seller of surplus equipment that sells at half price, though the "regular" price they had listed was already about half what I'd found elsewhere. It was certainly already half of MSRP. So, they had it at about a 4th MSRP. Started to hit "Buy Now" then noticed they had a "Make an offer" option. So I offered 25 and they accepted almost immediately. I've found that the actual bearing insert can be purchased in stainless steel by itself, as well. Those are much more common but still more than what I paid for the entire ss flange bearing with food-grade grease.

Hard to tell from the picture but it looks like at least 11 spaces in between each cross member which should be large enough for at least 44 frames? Your rig looks like a good piece of equipment. If you need parts you should always be able to buy bearings, motors etc from a local supplier, at least online even if not the original brand. From the pictures, I like it.

Extractors turn so slow I doubt if you would wear a flange bearing out in 10 generations. I have seen nickel plated flange bearing but never a stainless steel one. They have to be crazy expensive.

I would have thought that all extractors would have stainless bearings in order to be food-grade.

Not so.
My father in law had an old galvanized tank extractor that had a lot of rust on it, inside and out. My sister in law still uses it.

My father in law had an old galvanized tank extractor that had a lot of rust on it, inside and out. My sister in law still uses it.

:shocked: I have an old galvanized extractor but have never used it. Thought about camcoating it and using it but figured it wouldn't be worth the trouble as it only holds two frames in baskets that have to be flipped. Likely worth more as a collector item. The Hubbard 2401 is stainless.
