in order for them to draw comb there has to bee a good flow or they need to bee fed. i was just wondering about this myself after checking on my one hive this morning. i have been feeding it since i hived a package may 11. they are progressing nicely now covering 6 frames with brood hatching out well. no sign of problems.
i did notice that they are starting to store necter in the freshly emptied cells in the brood area so i elected to stop feeding at this point so they don't become "honey bound" and think they are out of room. whether this is the right decision or not i don't know as i'm pretty new at this. i'm not up on the way the necter flows go around here either. plenty of white clover right now but what else...?
my concern this year is winter survival for the bees. they'll keep everything they work for this year. they earned it and they been treating me good. calmest bees i've ever worked.
maybe someone else will educate us both a little better
