I'm debating on which protective clothing to get. I've about talked myself into at least a Ultra Breeze or Golden Bee jacket. For ya'll that have used both of these jackets or suits, which one seems to give the best visibility through the veil?
I'm considering also picking up a stand-alone hat/veil combo. Any recommendations on these? The other day I used one of the safari-type helmets and a squared off veil. I had some issues with visibility with it along with it shifting around on my head a bit. This was the first time I'd ever worn any headgear so it might have just been newbieness oozing out of me causing the visibility issues. :)
Thanks for your help (again!),

Can't speak for the Ultra Breeze, but no problems seeing out of the Golden Bee jacket. Plenty of room in the veil with no visual obstruction. It's a great product and to me, worth the money.

I have a Ultra Breeze jacket and have no problem with the hood at all. I love it. Get either one.

Ok, so it's flipping a coin, eh? :-D
Thanks for the feedback!

I finally took the plunge and bought an ultra breeze jacket. The only problem is that it arrived in FL a few days ago and I'm sweating my azz off here in S.D.!

I just checked Golden Bee's website and I don't see where they make a jacket with hood only. I just see the full bee suits. Are they there and I'm just not seeing them? Larry

Call them for it.

OK, Thanks!

Not sure why Larry that Suzie doesn't have the jacket on the website... meant to ask her that the last time I spoke with her. Possible a loss of potential sales!

I have an ultrabreeze jacket and a suit. I just ordered another jacket. And I have a Golden Bee Products suit. I love all of them. The ultrbreeze has good visibility. With the Golden Bee Products suit the black paint they put on the screen came off when I washed it and it lost a lot of visibility then, but is still workable and I still use it on a hot day when it's worth getting any breeze I can. Mostly I use the jackets. I also have a cotton jacket with zip on veil from www.beeworks.com (http://www.beeworks.com) and a nylon jacket and suit from them as well. I like all of them but they aren't as ventilated nor as stingproof, but they are my second choice. I've had suits and jackets from Mann Lake and Walter T. Kelley as well. I like the English hood as opposed to the kind that require a helmet. I don't like just a veil, but I have some bug baffler veils that fit in my pocket for those quick peek in the top things or when I go to a bee conference.

Arghhh..., I hope I don't have issues with the screen. I really anguished over the decision between the UB and GB jackets. Ah well, I'll keep some india ink or something handy...
<sigh>

It’s usually not super hot here in Michigan, so I just go with the run of the mill bee jacket with the English hood when doing a full inspection. I like them. However it quickly gets very warm on days over 80F. I would want something more breezy if living in the south.
When taking a peek, I also really like the bug veils that you can squeeze into a ball and fit in a pocket. They are low cost (ie Amazon) and can be used for bees and mosquitoes. They are usually some form of wedding tulle and work great over a ball cap. Great for camping too. Stings on the hands and arms are one thing (I barely react), but you don’t want to get them on the face. With the little bug veil, I’m always prepared to prevent that.

Don't agonize. They are both fine.
