I set up a new yard a month ago with 16 colonies on pallets at the edge of the woods. I have never seen these giant roaches up here. They are about 3/4" to 1 1/2 long. I'm finding them in numbers inside my vent boxes when I remove the covers. I know they are doing no harm but they gross me out

I'm guessing you just shipped in woodenware or packages from South Georgia? I don't think those roaches will survive a Michigan winter.

these are not palmetto bugs of the south. These colonies have never been in the south. Although I have never seen these things until now, google says they are common on up into canada.

I've not seen a lot of them, but we would get them in wood shipments when working at a shop when I was younger.
You aren't raising them, just harboring them.... :) Maybe instead you need to provide them with a little hotel to stay in :-D

What are we talking about just old pine roaches??
If so they are everywhere here they are in most peoples homes around here. Darn sure are in my home but I have never really tried to control them.
