Title: Bee on helenium
Post by: BoBn on August 25, 2009, 07:30:55 am
Her wings are still moving.  They were rapidly collecting nectar and pollen.  They were moving so quickly, that I had to take about 10 pictures to get one good one. You can see the dark orange pollen on her legs.

How funny is that, I did too and I was like who the heck put helium in a hive? :-D

Hey, that gives me an idea.  How about really small balloons filled with helium glued to bees for use in finding feral hives.  Hmm.  Should at least get a good laugh watching a bee try to pull the balloon home.  LOL.

Bee-nuts, beautiful, beautiful shot.  I don't know what is wrong with some of our forum friends, helium, oh brother, smiling  ;) :) :) :).  Being a "flower girl", I knew right away that the word was "helenium" not "helium".  Giving you all a hard time, and you know who you are, smiling.    I grow a perennial (well it grows itself) called Gaillardia (Blanket Flower), it has very similar coloring to your flower and looks similar in petal growth.  The bees go nuts on it, and I am not exaggerating one little bit.  Anyways, beautiful, thanks for sharing.  Have that most awesome and wonderful day, great health.  Cindi
