Solitary Ground Bees
« on: March 13, 2007, 09:02:18 pm »
I was out looking for early flying ants and wild swarms of bees in the woods when I had located a large community of solitary ground bees. I found them to be skittish and timid but still neat looking. They tend to nest in sandy soil.
They're about the same size as Honey Bees too.

A large nest of solitary ground bees. I think I have a new oxymoron.

Those are awesome pictures by the way.

We have ground nesting Alkali bees out here, but they aren't as big as Honey Bees.  We also have leaf cutter bees around here.
