Cold snap and dead larvae!

Today I found dead larvae and brood at the landing of one of my beehive.  Yesterday we had a little sunshine in the afternoon and the bees took this opportunity to clean up I guess!  I think they are dead because of the inclement and nasty spring weather here in NJ. I saw about 7 to 10 but I suspect many more were picked up by bees and thrown further afield.  Last night the temps went down as low as 38 degrees. Today the sun is up with no clouds but a cold and snappy wind is keeping the cold grip  :roll:!

Bees often push their luck.  They have to be gamblers to succeed.  If they build up quickly enough they can get a crop in because they have the workers.  If they don't build up quickly enough they may miss a lot of the flow.  So they have to push the limites.  Sometimes it pays, and sometimes it doesn't.
