« on: July 04, 2016, 02:23:46 pm »
How to get rid of laying workers in matting nucs? I had a matted queen which wasn't laying because of laying workers laying unfertilized eggs, but when i transfered her to a hive she did nice pattern of brood,  Does anyone have any solution to laying workers in nucs ?

We introduced a mated queen using a push in cage and released her 4 days later, some workers had burrowed under and were taking care of her. She is doing very well now. The laying worker ceased.

In a mating nuc I just give them another cell.

Did you mean replacing the queen with a seeled cell or what?

If they have laying workers they don't have a queen.  If they don't have a queen, I give them a queen cell.  If they have a queen, I'd let her lay up the hive and a frame or two of open brood will fix any laying workers.

Thanks a lot brother I'll appreciate your advice,  I will give her some open frame brood and take off seeled drone frames
