Aw man, I NEED one of these!!!! Is there a cheaper version?

So useful especially with bees entering the chimney or from the side.

Oh yeah, have you tried the IR camera on chimneys and if it can find bees behind it?

No Jack I haven't had the chance to try it on a chimney yet.

I'll post it up and send you pictures when I get a chimney call.

This is my work camera, I wouldn't have it otherwise.

The camera is an older model Fluke Flex Cam similar to their Ti55 that I picked up used for $3,500.

This is a picture inside of a garage wall from today on a poor colony barely surviving that had been sprayed heavily   :'(  :'(  :'(
Hope I can rescue it. I'm charging them double for being stupid.

Don, is the Fluke imager easy to use? Is it just point and view or you point and have to make some adjustments?

Also, you said you haven't tried it on chimneys with bees behind it. Have you tried it through stucco? Or bees in a tree?

....i've seen some rather nice results from modified point and shoot cameras.  i have no idea if you can get similar results, but it is probably worth a try on a $100 camera before dropping $3500.

the version i've seen removed the ir filter, and replaced it with exposed film (ie, the scrap that is included when you have color negatives processed).

Yes, it is easy to use. just point, focus and shoot. It's got a digital viewing screen so all you have to do is look through it till find them. You don't even have to take a picture if you don't want too.

VERY IMPORTANT: It's all about contrasting temperatures, it works best when the outside air temperature is below 75 degrees.

It works fine through modern stucco laid over lathe, I haven't tried it on the old thick stucco.

I've got a couple of bee trees close, I'll try it out on this week and let you know.
