Goal Met!
« on: September 18, 2019, 04:00:33 pm »
I am so happy to say that my 8-frame hive is strong with a full brood chamber and full medium super, which was my goal for going into the winter.

There are still, unbelievably, wild sunflowers blooming.  Broom weed is tapering off but Spanish Gold is at its peak.  There will be minor fall flows but right now I have no worries.  Will monitor and feed to maintain this hive condition.  Very hopeful of making some honey from this hive next year.

42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.

43 And he took it, and did eat before them.

Father, do you own one hive or more?
Blessings

I have been around bees a long time, since birth.  I am a hobbyist so my answers often reflect this fact.  I concentrate on genetics, raise my own queens by wet graft, nicot, with natural or II breeding.  I do not sell queens, I will give queens  for free but no shipping.

Just one now.

Will expand next spring but to what extent I don't yet know.

Committed to two more on a country property but am considering more.

Father, It is totally cool that with one hive the bees kinda get to know you, accept your presence, tolerate you being close to the hive, accept you.  Bees can be almost addicting, but in a good way.

I guess if I?m looking at this as a closing of a year , I pushed against every wall possible - I have good feed back from my practice.
Thanks for sharing your practices for my edification as well.
Bees of father Michael,  allow gods heart to flow like honey and make a smile stay on his face!! Amen
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

Thanks, Cool.

We had a tremendous spring in Texas this year but the summer was hot and dry.  Looks like high 80s into October.

I also am glad for you !!  Wishing for you, a strong overwintering and a great season for you next year!! I will have to look up Spanish Gold weed. I have not heard of this, living in Mississippi.
