Title: University Of Louisiana At Lafayette-Bee Removal
Post by: JP on June 30, 2012, 11:55:01 pm
Real nice sized hive, been there a while. The bees were not gentle nor overly aggressive but I did have to wear the jacket & veil for the duration of the removal. Some of you may recall one I did for this same University in 2009 I titled cinnamon role hive, something to that nature.

Anyway, they are going to tear this building down (an old horse barn) but today they were having some type of event near the barn and the bees had to go. Four hours of travel time on this removal. Got home at 1:00 Am.  :-D

JP, just a suggestion you may want to try. I notice you use a longer solid vac ext. then mine, and hold it horizontally. I have been using a 12 in. ext. and holding it vertically. I find I can skim up the comb right next to it without gouging it and the suction being downward, gravity assists in taking them in.

Just a thought you might want to play with.

PS. Nice hive, and another nice job. Yep, I've found a few that told me to don my jacket, too.    :-D

Hey Iddee, I'll definitely try that next removal. The one I did today were sweet hearts, no jacket & veil, just the way I like it!  :-D

That looked way to hard. I still can"t believe you can find those queens so easily even if covered in honey.

Thanks for sharing, Enjoyed the music.

Stool and a table would have been easier on your back young fella!  ;)

Noticed in the last couple of videos you have been using mediums instead of deeps. Changing box size?

Pleasure watching you work, thanks for taking the extra time to video & edit.

Don, I keep deeps and mediums with me but on this job I only had mediums with me.
