Coffee's Ready

On a chicken forum I'm a member of there's this daily thread called "Coffee's Ready".

Thought I'd mention it here.

On a daily basis you drop in if you have time (mostly in the am ) just to say hello and report what you have planned for the day or what you did recently, kinda something to get your day going and keep others abreast of what's going on in your life.

And since there are a lot of coffee drinkers out there, the posts usually begin with something like this" drinking my first cup of Joe, looking out the window at ice cycles, its -20F out, ain't even thinkin' of steppin' outside today... something like that as an example.

So, anyway, here you go...

Its 4:23 am, just took the garbage out and put it curb side as I didn't do it last night. My mental alarm clock woke me at 4 saying you better put the garbage out.

Let the dogs out for a squirt.

Its 42F but feels warmer, nice out, chill in the air, bees likely won't be flying for a while until well after daylight. I suspect they'll have a short flight window today as the anticipated high is 58F.

Extracted the last of this years honey yesterday, about twelve gallons worth, have two full 5 gallon buckets and more in the extractor, started bottling but have a ways to go and Christmas orders that need to be filled.

Going hunting this weekend with a good friend up in north Louisiana where Teddy Roosevelt once hunted black bear, still have black bear there today.

Think I'll put a pot on in a little bit, my wife loves a nice cup of french roast in the morning to start her day. She's in la la land in the next room.

Gonna surf a little bit first.

I'm up and dressed, went and plugged the truck in so it will be easier to start. Very cool here at 33 with just a trace of snow in the air.

Not a coffee drinker but did have me a cup of hot cocoa and a warm bowl of oatmeal with some good wildflower honey in it.

Off to work in a few to pull on pipe wrenches all day long at HAVCO Wood Products, one of my better customers. They make the wood floors that go into the trailers of 18 wheelers.

Looking to get the wife a car this weekend since hers was totaled out a week and a half ago.

5 AM.  lit off the stove.  not so cold today at 44.  going to chug the first cup of coffee, find the flashlight and go feed the critters, get hubby out the door, and then spend some time at the gym  :-D

Up at 6. Changing shocks @ 6:15-7:30. Installed top ring on re-built extractor. Hopefully put first Camcote on wheel today. Getting close to finishing it up. Now off to work.

Hmm...
Woke up at 7:15 and dragged my sleepy carcass out of bed.  Assemble my lunch, make a cup 'o joe, kiss my wife goodbye, and head off to work to stare at a computer screen all day.  Cold, slow snow all day lake-effect, roads a touch slippery, not too bad.  Then home again, supper, mess with the kids for a while, work on the new saltwater aquarium getting it ready for seahorses, then bed to time again too late.  Repeat.

Well, got to work read your post and found the chicken forum that you have talked about on other posts. That forum led me to a rabbit forum....too many hobbies not enough $$$

This just seems like something people do on facebook or myspace. Not real sure why anyone would be interested in what I do throughout the day.... or just the morning.  :evil: you might not want to know  :evil:

Whatever man, like i said, this is a morning thing for the most part, just to see who's up and about and what's going on with their day.

 I was up at 3:30 this morning.  didn't get no coffee till about 8:30 though.


facebook and all that is really geared toward the mobile do it all phone texting types.

 I am not one of those folks. I sit a t a desktop computer and do my computer thang.

However,  I do have a facebook page for my business and a facebook beekeeper group for pretty much this kind of thing.  just beeks, people with a similar interest keeping up with each other.  dropping a line to the bunch now and then to share a joke, ask a question, shoot the chit.  

you are more than welcome to join the group, started it a few days ago, there are like 7 of us now talking about pretty much this kind of stuff JP.  you do have to create a facebook account though ( it's free, for what that's worth) and the group name is "rebel beekeepers".

No, facebook and myspace etc.. is over rated in my opinion.  but since I had accounts set up for my business,  I figured wth, might as well have some fun while  I am online researching and doing business anyway.

Actually, I was thinking of just posting the emails that my Mom sends out to all her contacts everyday.  Almost everyday, but nothing worth sending an email for... :roll: 

Tuesday:

Dear all,
It is a rainy dreary day here, but not November cold yet.
This morning Rich was wondering about all the facebook messages so I told him to open one and read it.  He reads it out loud and then silence and an Oh, It's your birthday today!
We  went o ut and ran an errand or two, one of which was a real bust and came home and found out that the UPS guy had been here with a delivery for a third try which was what we  needed for the errand at the bank. Now we have to find out how to get this package back that needs a signature.
We are supposed to get the snow tomorrow.  We had quite a bit of rain overnight.  On TV they said that if it had been snow it would have been more than 10 inches.  I am happy that it was rain.
I am doing a  big laundry, for me at this stage of my life.

Wednesday:

Dear all,
We have snow and it has been snowing all day.  We do have to go out for a bit this afternoon.
I have been cold in the house even if the furnace is running, all the  windows in the not so sunny sun room and in the living room, do make it cooler when the sun doesn't shine.
I guess I haven't been active enough to keep warm.  When we have weather like this, I am ready for summer in Australia.
Rich made supper last night and even did the dishes, I felt reallly pampered and almost guilty.

Well,it's 1 am. Just . wishing I had a coffee. We had a lot of rain today and yesterday. I am at the shop where I work. The river is approaching the building(slowly mind ya). I am watching it out the window. We have most of the stuff moved.Cars are removed from the car lot, tool boxes and expensive items removed.At most we should only see about two feet of water in the building(We Hope anyways). Then the cleanup and restoring normal operations returns.The crest may not come until 7AM . Looks like it will be a long night.I'll fill ya in later.

Well,it's 4 :15 Am and I'm still watching the shop. The water is still lurking in the darkness. The rate of rise has slowed a bit. When stepping outside you can hear the river churning in the darkness just across the road. It is very still and quiet as the police have barricaded the road to traffic a while ago.Hope the crest falls short of expectations.Hope to be off for a coffee soon as the market closest to here should open around 5 AM.
