50 F and windy and they're taking advantage of the warm day by cleaning house. I expect that the mouse guard complicates removing the dead but they seem to be overcoming it so I didn't pull it off.

Same here.  The colonies in the sun were especially active.  I even had a bee fly over and investigate the smell of honey coming from my hot tea when I was out in the driveway earlier.
I come from under the hill, and under the hills and over the hills my paths led.  And through the air, I am she that walks unseen.

I looks like they've reduced our predicted temps today but I checked on the hive. IR camera indicates that they are still clustered so I didn't gas them. I pulled my mouse guard off and raked some dead away from their entrance and I was quickly met by what I assume was a guard bee. I'm feeling pretty good about my hive right now.

I fed my bees earlier this week. I saw some orientation flights last week. So far nothing is blooming as we have had a colder than average winter but soon the henbit and other early spring/late winter stuff will start blooming.

Temperature 81 today and I looked at a bee tree that needs to have the bees gone, so I repaired a trapout box. and cleaned up a deadout that web worms found before I did.

I was hoping to perform a gassing today but it didn't get warm enough for them to fly and I don't know if they were clustered or not. I pulled my mouseguard off again and they had some dead piled up against it so I raked them out. I took another IR picture this evening and they are still alive and well and clustered in there.

Extracted some honey in the past two days. Performed alcohol washes on 10 hives with no varroa present. A few more hives to be tested in another yard today and tomorrow. Fingers crossed that the pest won?t be present.

I changed a few moisture quilts today and gave one of the two hives I'm feeding another sugar ball.  Lots of activity at the entrances, since it's pretty warm here.  After rolling a couple of bees who were on a bottom board insert as I removed it, I took a sting to the leg and got a bee tangled in my hair.  I did manage to remove her from the base of my braid without taking a sting to the scalp or the hand, which was a pleasant surprise.

Good morning, everyone. We have 28 F and cloudy here this morning with some light snow today with temps climbing slightly and holding steady overnight. Warmer air mass moves in tomorrow with rain and highs around 50. Maybe I'll get the chance to gas the hive tomorrow. I am curious about what they'll do tomorrow.
