Another guy came into work with 3 broken teeth. When asked by a fellow worker what happened, he said his wife hit him with a tomato.

The fellow worker replied, "A tomato did that?"

He replied, "It was still in the can."

I went to the dentist with three broken teeth.

The dentist asked "What happened?"

I replied "Well, my wife decided to make fried chicken for dinner but it was really over cooked and extremely dry and hard"

Dentist said "Well you should of told her it was over cooked and refused to eat it"

I replied "That's what I did"

A question:

When a fly flies through a fart, does he have the same reaction as I do when the neighbor fires up his grill ?

From an engineering perspective it looks like a great design. The mechanical advantage obtained from the levers is great.

I agree it is a good design and agree with you about the new equipment that they are using in the ad.  I think my biggest criticism about it would be all the screws and clamps that would have to be bought in my case.  I never know which box will go on which hive until I need to add boxes.  And then there set up has a front and back to the boxes since there are mounting bolts for the lift.  My boxes get spun around all the time.

So basically, if you have a hive or hives with dedicated boxes that go together that you add the needed bolts and clamps to then that lift would be great.  If I were using flow hives, I would definitely be interested in that lift.  Removing the box with the flow frames to inspect the brood box must be a pain.  Hence the need for the hive lift.

FARMING & COUNTRY LIFE / Re: Trying to Solder

If it was for gas they may well have used a less commonly sized pipe(for water). Like 5/8ths instead of 1/2 or 3/4. All states follow a plumbing code but each state chooses the particular code system they will adhere to. 5/8ths is very uncommon for water but not that uncommon for gas in some places just as 1 1/4 is common for gas here but rate for water. Not that either are wrong or disallowed but became common practice by the local plumbers. It could also have been flared which would make soldering a no go as well

Due to busyness of life, distractions, and just plain forgetfulness on my part of haven't completely finished Huber yet. I do really enjoy sitting down with a nice cup of tea or coffee and reading when I can. I do feel I lose some amount of benefit of reading more regularly or in larger sessions and forgetting what I read my last session. I know I'll be reading this book again, probably many times over the course of life. I can't appreciably  add to the praise heaped on Huber over the years,  there is little if anything more to be said. His work is incomparable.

No Phill it is meant to just raise a stack of boxes high enough to slip a bee escape in.

From an engineering perspective it looks like a great design. The mechanical advantage obtained from the levers is great. It?s always a giggle moment to look at adverts that have been set up. Ie. Clean, flat ground with space around hives, good quality boxes where frames are relatively new and clean, frames and boxes not glued together with propolis etc. Would love to see a video on a worst case scenario to see if it is still effective. Early spring checks are a pain in my area as frames and boxes are tightly glued together. Every frame has to be individually removed and cleaned of propolis before the box below it can be moved. After that, this lifter would most likely work reasonably well. It would definitely make brood inspections an easier task.

A guy sits down in a cafe and orders a bowl of chili.

The waitress says, "Sorry, but the guy next to you got the last bowl".

He looks over and sees that the guy's finished his meal, but the bowl of chili is still full. He asks, "Are you going to eat that chili?"

The other guy says, "No. Help yourself". He slides the bowl of chili over and starts to eat.

When he gets about half way down, his spoon hits something. He looks down sees a dead mouse and immediately pukes all the chili back into the bowl.

The other guy says, "Yeah, that's about as far as I got, too".
