Using Photobucket to Post a Photo

Ya'll bear with me on this...there will probably be some mistakes someone needs to point out to me. I'm no expert but questions are welcomed...maybe somebody will answer them.  :laugh:  I had earlier posted this tutorial elsewhere but I figured I'd post it here, too, where it might help a larger group of folks.

This is a short take (hopefully) on how to upload pictures to Photobucket and use them in a message on message forums.

Here goes...

First thing is you need to have an image to upload and know where it's located at on your computer. Our target is beeyard.jpg...

Now, ya gotta go to www.photobucket.com now. Set up an account there if you don't already have one.

When you first log in to PB you are presented with the primary folder to store your pictures in.


You can also create subfolders just like you can do on your computer. These are normally listed on the lower righthand side of my screen. (BTW, I'm working on an old crt monitor at work that kinda cramps the screens).


You can store your images in the primary folder or you can create a new folder. If you don't have any images uploaded yet you'll see this screen. Click on the green bar.


A window with another green bar will come up prompting you to click on it to. This will open up a directory/folder on your computer. This is where you need to know where your image is located at. A warning here...if you for some reason go to another window while you have the upload selection window showing your images open you might play the dickens finding it again without starting back over...just thought I'd mention that...it happens to me ...


Navigate to the image...


Clicking on the selected image will begin the uploading process...


My computer seems to hang sometimes about now but if I click the "Save and Continue..." button it correctly moves me to this screen...

Now, if I hover my pointer over the image a drop down menu will appear beneath the uploaded image. Next, click inside the bottom yellow tinted window of the drop down menu beside where it says "Img Code". You will briefly see the word "Copied" flash in the window.


You have just copied that image link to memory/clipboard/whatever. Now, go to where your post is here on on www.beemaster.com and put your mouse where you want to place the image. I think I normally click at that spot so the cursor is blinking there. Anyhow, when you get the spot picked out "right click" and hit "paste". The code to link to photobucket should show up...


And the resulting image *should* show up in your preview (ya gotta hit preview button). Of course when you save your message the image should show up in it so everyone can see it. Here's the image we were uploading...this was a picture made from one of my RC airplanes...the "red X" marks where my bee yard is now....picture is a few years old.


Well, this might be all confusing...it was for me to post it, too. Like I said, any questions, comments, suggestions, corrections, or whatever are welcomed.

To post a thumbnailed picture so the download/page-loading time is decreased and the reader has the option to click the thumbnail and enlarge it here is what to do. This is with the understanding that you understand the process of uploading and posting pictures to photobucket figured out.

When you hover over an image in one of your folder on photobucket the drop-down menu opens up. If you notice there is a little square right underneath the thumbnailed picture. You can click in that square and a check mark will appear in it.

Once you have the check mark scroll down past the bottom images...there will be a bar there with an empty square there to "Select all/Unselect all". Just to the right of that is a link that says "Choose Action" and has a down arrow beside it. If you click on this it opens up a small menu. Click on the bottom option..."Generate link codes for selected".


This will open up a new "floating" menu with the heading "Generate link codes". You will want to use the code for the thumbnails found in the "IMG for bulletin boards & forums" window. Click inside the window that the code is in and the code will be copied to your "clipboard".


Now simply go back to your message here on Beemaster and paste the code where you want the thumbnail at.
