Title: Would you give me candle making advice please
Post by: Lone on January 12, 2013, 02:07:29 am
Hello folks,

I recently bought a candle mould.  It is soft, latex I think.  It has a pin where the wick goes.  I'm sure there is an easy way to insert the wick, but I've struggled with poor results.  The wick has to go into the little hole I'm assuming because that is at the top of the candle.

Also, is there anything recommended to clean the mould with between candles or to assist in the removal? (if I get to that stage).

Thanks, Lone

See if you can find something like down there.  http://www.brushymountainbeefarm.com/Silicone-Spray/productinfo/342/ (http://www.brushymountainbeefarm.com/Silicone-Spray/productinfo/342/)

They also sell candle mold cleaner also.

Thanks Allen, I haven't got any candle mold cleaner but I picked up silicone spray at an auto parts shop.
I worked out how to hold the wick in when removing the candle (I think).  I was a bit impatient and tried to take it out when not hard enough.
I'm not sure how to get the wax fully off the hard plastic mould.  I'll try the silicone and see if that helps.

Hey I bought two of the silicon wax moulds' a rose and a bee on a sunflower. I also have a tall pillar and the key is to let it harden fully and then to have a long length of wick that you then pull through when you remove the candle. This way they are auto wicking. I have made lots of the bees and rose ones and they come out easily with some man handling. The tall pillar comes out with rubbing/ pulling of the silicon all around the candle, it then pulls out with relative ease,
Good luck.
