Treatment Timing???
« on: August 05, 2016, 05:56:28 pm »
I will be using OA for mites this year and unfortunately for me, our fall flow is just beginning.
My question is when is the best time to treat? Can I wait another two weeks before I start treatments?
How soon after each treatment can I put the supers back on or should they be left off for the duration of the three treatments? My goal is to knock down the population before winter bees are being produced. I am way more concerned with going into winter with lower mite loads than getting honey but would love it if I could do both...

You can do this that will reduce the work.

1. You can place something in-between your brood and honey, like plastic bag, cardboard, Luan or something that will not let the small crystals penetrate. But doing this, you should have top entrance or cracked vented so the girls that are up there don't overheat. After your done, wait 15-30 minutes and pull the dividers out. You can do this every treatment.
