I recently purchased a shamrock mini mating nuc . it was suggested to me that I paint melted wax on the frames. See picture. is it too much wax on this frame?

I would not worry about that thick wax.

IMHO mini mating nuc are a waste of resources if you are not raising Queens by the hundreds.
