unfiltered cappings wax for plastic frames ok ?
« on: September 13, 2018, 08:18:24 pm »
Hi All,

I've got a new batch of plastic one piece frames that I'm needing to put a coat of wax on.
I've also got 4 kilo of dry wax cappings left over from last season.

Do I need to filter the cappings or could I just melt them directly to coat the plastic frames ?

Cheers

Damien

Just use it as it is. Put water under it to control the temperature.
Are you going to dip them or paint them?

Thanks.
I use an old electric frypan and it seems to work pretty well.
I use a paint roller after that.

I'll add the cappings direct to the frypan and roll on.

Just to let everyone know my plastic frames are being drawn out really well with unfiltered wax cappings melted onto them.
In fact it seems to work better than when I've used filtered wax.
(Though it isn't a side by side experiment).
