Title: Abscond and then a swarm
Post by: jtcmedic on June 20, 2019, 10:17:47 pm
Was out working my back yard have a isolation yard for the cut out and found one absconded. Was cleaning up the nuc and went through my other 6 their and as I was finishing up cloud of bees from the woods  sprayed a swarm commander on the nuc and they were on it. Saw the queen and put her in a cage . Don?t know we?re they came from checked my other hives 3 days ago no cells. So maybe the abscond came home

Cutouts seem to have a fair chance of absconding.. Don't know why but they do. My second year after a rainy week I had 10 abscond on the same day. Never figured out why. Caught a few. The main reason I  don't do free cutouts. Marking your queen can help figuring things out sometimes.
