Hello fellow bee's.
My name is Greg.
And I hale from the great state of Arkansas!!! Yes sir!
I hope this is the right place to introduce myself.
I am a new beek and have a great love for this fine insect we call the honey bee.
I have not acquired any bees as yet.
Still learning and reading and dreaming of the day.
I wish to wait until I feel I have the knowledge and experience to give my bee's the greatest chance of success.
But I am truly fascinated by bee's.
Also I am a hobby goat farmer to (nubians)
I am having a slight amount of trouble maneuvering the sight, but feel I'll get the hang of it.
I am glad to be here and talk with fellow bee's.
Greg

Greg
If you are like me, the minute you open a hive you will not remember anything that you read.  I found one of the things that did help quite a bit was me watching a guy go through hie hive.  It was just a comfort thing cause I still didn't know anything when I got in by myself but it did help with just the intimidation factor that is invoved with bees and also the newness making you scared you will be too rough.  You don't want to be rough but bees are not fragile either.

Welcome

Thanks for the welcome. Wondering if there's an English version or sub titles for the video?
We live SW of Brisbane, Qld and had my first hive for 4 days now so I recon I'm about ready to start giving advice. :-)
Hope to learn heaps on the forum for what appears to be a fulfilling pastime.
See you around, Kelvin

Question, if you please?
Is your newstart colony actually in Logan, or away in the SouEast on the old dairy country?
And whichstyle/format did you opt for?... okee, that's two (2) questions..cheers

Thank you for the add. I am also a New Jersey lady. I have the opportunity to buy nine supers and wanted to find out what else I would need and also if they are used is it OK to buy them. Thank you so much and your video was very informative

Welcome to Beemaster Kelly.
How old are the supers? Are frames included? If they are just boxes and rather new, yes.
Ask what the seller treats his bees with. If he is using antibiotics, run. They are used to keep American Foul Brood under control. If you do not do the same, and you do not want to be putting antibiotics in your honey, in 3 years they will bee infected and the correct thing to do is burn all of the equipment.

You will also need top and botttom boards, frames and foundation a bee suit, a smoker and a hive tool.
