Rain and bee's
« on: August 21, 2008, 09:30:26 am »
This is my first year with bee's. My bee's are flying in the rain and some are dieing because they get turned up side down get stuck in the water. I have the hive on a slant so water won't run in but some still puddles on the landing. Is this normal?

Normal, if you're worried use sbbs and slant your entrances.

Look carefully at their wings. They usually have "frayed" edges or "notches" on edge of wings. This is a sign they are older and it is the older ones who are usually dieing in a light rain. Young bees can handle the lite rains.
