Filezilla no longer supports Windows XP...
« on: June 08, 2014, 09:54:55 am »
Ok, I thought I'd put a note out here with the issue of Filezilla not working with Windows XP anymore in the subject line.

Last night during my "chat" with Godaddy regarding a ftp outage, the tech told me that Filezilla no longer works with Windows XP.  I am running v3.8.0 of Filezilla and it works fine.  The latest version is v3.8.1, though, and it no longer lists Windows XP as a operating system that it works with.  It only states "Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1 are supported, each both 32 and 64 bit.".

I just thought I'd pass this on to ya'll in case you still have an XP machine that you're using for ftp'ing.  I have an older Dell laptop with XP on it that I use for my weather station...it works great.  Filezilla v3.8.0 is working fine for me. :)

FWIW,
Ed

American blood spilled to protect the freedom and peace of people all over the world.  320,000 USA casualties in WWI, 1,076,000 USA casualties in WWII, 128,000 USA casualties in the Korean War, 211,000 casualties in the Vietnam "conflict", 57,000 USA casualties in "War on Terror".  Benghazi, Libya, 13 USA casualties. These figures don't include 70,000 MIA.  But, the leaders of one political party of the United States of America continue to make the statement..."What difference does it make?".

"Works" and "supported" are two different animals

If MS didn't so totally hose win 8 there wouldn't be so many people on xp

I also find goDaddy support is pretty hit and miss fwiw
