Honey harvest totals
« on: September 30, 2008, 10:14:20 am »
It's been way too long since I've hung out with my bee friends.  I've been spending lots of time over on Backyard Chickens learning about my new girls.  I miss you guys!  There's only so much time in the day, though.....so many places on the internet I love to visit.  Anyhoo.....

I think we're going to get a total of about 140 lbs out of the hives in Maine.  We've pulled four medium supers off two of the hives here, and have four more to pull at Mom's, don't know how full they are over there, but I'm thinking we'll end up with the same.  So, almost 280 lbs is a pretty good haul, huh?  :-D

What'd you all get?

There won't be a fall harvest around here since it has been so dry.  I checked my hives this past weekend and they don't have enough stores in them to get to winter much less get through winter.  I've been feeding the weeker hives just to get them along.

I'm a new beek.  No honey for me this year for me. :(
My mentor was pretty dissappointed with his 15 gallons  (5 hives).  Two years ago, the hives gave him 90 gallons.
