Should I be concerned?
« on: July 18, 2019, 12:09:56 pm »
a few weeks ago, and just today, I noticed a single larva(pupae?) nearly developed, but still white, laying on the landing board. Should I be concerned as these were a few weeks apart? To my experience thus far, no bees have shown physical malformaties that would indicate disease or mites.

When it comes to bees, a single anything is nothing to be concerned with.  Even a single queen cell is nothing to worry about (supercedure).  A single dead bee/larva could be anything or nothing.  I would bet on nothing.

Your options are to look inside, test for mites, or leave it alone.

If you just did an inspection, you may have damaged that larvae. More than likely the bees detected a problem, mites in the cell or a genetic defect and removed it. That is a very good thing. It is good  hygienists. Just leave the bees bee bees.

Cool. I'll be tracking from mites in August. Hopefully there aren't enough to be concerned about
