Yellow wax probably means they are cleaning up used comb. White wax means they are building wax comb.

No further varroa mite found at the Port of Brisbane

After extensive surveillance at the Port of Brisbane following the detection of a single varroa mite (Varroa jacobsoni) and Asian honey bees, no further mites have been found in the area.

Biosecurity Queensland in conjunction with the Australian Government and Queensland bee industry have conducted intensive surveillance since the detection on 19 February 2024. 

All bees collected from the Port of Brisbane hives have tested negative for exotic bee viruses including slow bee paralysis virus, deformed wing virus, acute bee paralysis virus and Apis mellifera rhabdovirus.
