Somebody has to start it...
« on: August 23, 2012, 12:26:13 am »
Michigan and Alabama September 1st at 7:00P.M. in Arlington, Texas (ABC).

I would rather see it at the end of the season than the beginning.  A tough start for the Wolverines, still rebuilding after the departure of TWCIMFH (a well-known acronym in Ann Arbor).  Could be a long day for the Boys in Blue, but if the defense plays well and Denard Robinson can get free...  "that's why the play the games!"

I feel bad for the kids at ASU (and Penn State too).

Good luck to my second favorite team (anybody playing Notre Dame).

Having fun!

ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

American blood spilled to protect the freedom and peace of people all over the world.  320,000 USA casualties in WWI, 1,076,000 USA casualties in WWII, 128,000 USA casualties in the Korean War, 211,000 casualties in the Vietnam "conflict", 57,000 USA casualties in "War on Terror".  Benghazi, Libya, 13 USA casualties. These figures don't include 70,000 MIA.  But, the leaders of one political party of the United States of America continue to make the statement..."What difference does it make?".

Yep, I also hope the newly minted Wolverines ROLL over the Tide  :-D   ROLL ROLL ROLL the Tide over.

We’ve got a 5th year senior now in Denard, there should be less panicking this year and more carving up the opposing team.  The other thing people may have forgotten is Michigan consistently kicked Nick Saban’s butt when he coached at MSU.

The Wolverines might as well roll over and play dead like a possum...same themselves some pain.

In Saban's defense, he arrived in '95 to a know-nothing, busted up Michigan team who had a wonderful 5-6 record from the previous year and that couldn't beat the local neighborhood's kids playing in the local churchyard.  He left MSU in '95 after leading MSU to a 9-2 season.  MSU went on to beat Florida in the Citrus Bowl and end up ranked in the Top 10 for the season.

Roll (them wolverines flat) Tide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :-D

That's cold, man!  Still trying to forget the 1988 Outback Bowl or the 2000 Orange Bowl?  So what rhymes with Alabama?  At 3-5 I think Nick still has some ground to make-up trying to catch Michigan in wins.

I think Bama currently has a better team too, but it's fun to hope.  Besides, the Elephants don't have three years of Rich Rodriguez to recover from.

I give both schools credit for NOT scheduling a "cream puff" to open with like ND, Florida, Ohio State and others did.  Kudos to Hoke too for suspending Toussaint and Clark.  Neither would make a significant difference in the outcome of the game, but suspending them speaks volumes about Hoke and the program, even if he did bullsh*t and drag it out until the end of the week.  Watching ESPN this morning, it seemed as if all the news was about all the players that were either suspended or kicked off various teams.

I hope we get a good game, regardless of who wins.  I sorely miss well-coached games played by intelligent kids, particularly after seeing the highlights last night of players not knowing which way to run.

This is Michigan! – GO BLUE!

 :( :( :( :idunno: :idunno:

Hat’s off to Bama.  They looked very impressive out there on the field.  We really should have a descent Michigan football team this year, so it’s pretty impressive that Bama was able to dominate our Wolverines so convincingly.  I gotta hand it to Bama, there were clearly the much better team.

Hey Sundog...I *really* enjoyed the game. Thanks for starting the thread the thread? :lau:

BlueBee....it was a good game.  Michigan's got some building to do.  When they first hit the field you could see s spark of what they may become...and all along throughout the game.  Bama's the same, they're building in there way, too.

Sundog, it was indeed a good game and I saw little anger show up on the field and that made it even better.  I love to watch the kids play and to razz folks about the games, but I realize that that is what they are....games.  And in realizing that, I can enjoy them...win or lose. ;)  Michigan has got a ways to go, but those kids will get it together.  Robinson needs to use his head a bit more (and not for a steam-roller) he ain't no Tebow to be bowling over folks....but he's tough and he's game, so my hat's off to him.

ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!   41-14 !!!!!!!!!!!

Ya'll really didn't think I'd post without saying that, did you?  :-D

Epilog –

Alabama was very impressive.  With the exception of a brain fart or two, they played a close to perfect game.  They ruled the line of scrimmage and managed the ball very well.  That offensive line is huge and they will have a lot of fun this season.

The Michigan defense looked a lot like we saw during the RR years.  Bad angles and lots of arm tackles.  Didn’t work too well.  I thought the play calling was unimaginative too.  I fear last year was an optimistic spike and we are in for a mediocre season again.

Sill it’s great to be seeing football again!

My thoughts exactly SunDog.  It sure looked like Rich Rods team out there; but as you said, we have to give Bama due credit.  They are a very well balanced team.  They looked like Michigan of old.

I know that Bama won at the line of scrimmage, but for a 5th year QB to be dominated like Robbinson was, was disappointing.  If you can't figure out how to get the ball past the line of scrimmage after starting 5 years, then something is not really working together very well.  Of coarse it's not all Robbinson's fault, but as we found out in the RR era, if you don't have the threat of a pass game, you get crushed every time.

On a lighter note; hey it's just a game.  The kids are out there to have fun.  Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.  Such is life.
