What is the best remedy for a bee sting? How do you know if you are allergic to a bee sting? :'(

When I get stung by a bee first thing I want is to pull the stinger out, and if the smoker is lit puff a good blast of smoke on it to disguise the alarm pheromone (banana smell).

Stings do not bother me like they use to and I find the more excited I get the worse it seems to swell up.

Benadryl works pretty good on controlling the itch and swelling, I rub some of the gel on if it gets too itchy.

If you are allergic you will have breathing problems from your throat swelling, an epi pen would be real handy at that point in time, could save your life.

Other remedies could be just about anything from tobacco, a cut potato, cold pack, any number of over the counter sting meds, some different plants, etc.
those hot bees will have you steppin and a fetchin like your heads on fire and your keister is a catchin!!!

Bees will be bees and do as they please!

Laughter is the best medicine.

I always tell visitors to Bjorn Apiaries..."If you see me get stung, go ahead and laugh. Cause when I see you get stung....I'm going to laugh at you!"   :-D

I cuss a little and have been know to run or scream like a girl. I usually get stung either getting in or out of the truck before I put on my jacket or just after I take it off.

Slapping the bee off is a natural reaction.   Then I just grin and bear it.   Later on I like to scratch the area.   Just feels good.

I usually wait until I finish working them, then look to see how many of the stingers I can find. If I don't find them for a day or two, they sometimes get infected. Most times I don't feel more than about 2 out of five, or so.

It's much better if you have someone else suck the poison out for you!...just sayin' :)

Scott
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
