Can We Count On The Police?

Hi Folks,

This piece says it better than I can compose. I always thought we could,... but I've been wondering....

I promise you, we cannot.

In my locality, we have a sheriff who has been caught in an affair scandal complicated with misuse of public resources to try to cover it up and illegally arrest his mistress when she threatened to expose him (after becoming pregnant...).  He then issued a statement on 2nd Amendment sanctuary cities basically stating that his hands were bound by Florida law and he would uphold anything that comes down from Tallahassee, regardless of whether it's constitutional.

No, the police are not always your friend.  I expect them to be upstanding and observant of the US Constitution.  I give them full respect as humans with a tough occupation...until that power attempts to compromise my rights.

I live in Baker County, moved out of Duval County, party because I feel safer here. If you stop on the side of the road and a deputy drives by, he will stop and ask if you need help. From the top down, they feel their job is to protect us, not find some reason to arrest us. When they arrive on seen of a hot situation, they do their best to calm it, not make it worse and try to get all parties to come together. I have, as a first responder, seen this several times.

This is a great quote from the article:

... We?ve seen all these things happen or be threatened since the bat stew virus infected the Bill of Rights, perhaps fatally. And these atrocities have to stop ...

This article makes some really good points. Hopefully the msg gets thru to our LEO community.

We can only count on the rule of law which should apply to everyone.  It is very unfortunate that some people believe the rule of law does not apply to them or that it only applies to who they think it should apply to.  When the man at the top believes he is untouchable the behavior trickles down.  It will get worse while the politicians continue to exhibit a blinds eye followed by their famous finger pointing.  All the while the slogan "Keep America Great" is doing the exact opposite.

We can only count on the police or any other institution if it is held accountable.

Hi Folks,

Anywayyyy:

We all know a "singular" bad cop. Remember years ago, when you heard that "...that guy became a cop???" That "bad kid" from high school?

He's not who I'm talking about. I'm talking about the cop that says,... "Ok! I know those orders are wrong, but those are the orders. I've got to follow them".

I told you about my Latvian friend's father, the Nazi guard. The one Simon Wiesenthal was after. He was a young man following orders.

In 1969 my friend explained that being a Nazi at the time, was like being a democrat today. How prophetical.

S.W knew where he was. They only let him get away,.... out of kindness I suppose. That quiet, low wage, hard working family man that I knew was a Nazi guard, was supposedly responsible for atrocities. He was just following orders.

Remember Kent State? Remember Waco? Ruby Ridge? General Flynn? Roger Stone? Elian Gonzales? Only following orders.

Hillary Clinton? Ultra vires? CYA!

Can we count on the police?

It depends on who WE are.

Now would be the perfect time for the entire police force to turn in their notice. You would really see some action then.

It's about time to "de-fund some politicians"

In other news: "we haven't played cowboys-and-looters yet, but its'a comin', its'a comin"' ... they'd be in much better hands with the Police ... says I.

Buffalo police are starting the right way, if they will just keep it up and maybe it will spread.

Hi Folks,

Who's old enough to remember?

Black Day in July
Gordon Lightfoot

Black day in July
Motor city madness has touched the countryside
And through the smoke and cinders
You can hear it far and wide
The doors are quickly bolted
And the children locked inside

Black day in July
Black day in July
And the soul of Motor City is bared across the land
As the book of law and order is taken in the hands
Of the sons of the fathers who were carried to this land

Black day in July
Black day in July
In the streets of Motor City is a deadly silent sound
And the body of a dead youth lies stretched upon the ground
Upon the filthy pavement
No reason can be found

Black day in July
Black day in July
Motor City madness has touched the countryside
And the people rise in anger
And the streets begin to fill
And there's gunfire from the rooftops
And the blood begins to spill

Black day in July

In the mansion of the governor
There's nothing that is known for sure
The telephone is ringing
And the pendulum is swinging
And they wonder how it happened
And they really know the reason
And it wasn't just the temperature
And it wasn't just the season

Black day in July
Black day in July
Motor City's burning and the flames are running wild
They reflect upon the waters of the river and the lake
And everyone is listening
And everyone's awake

Black day in July
Black day in July
The printing press is turning
And the news is quickly flashed
And you read your morning paper
And you sip your cup of tea
And you wonder just in passing
Is it him or is it me

Black day in July

In the office of the President
The deed is done the troops are sent
There's really not much choice you see
It looks to us like anarchy
And then the tanks go rolling in
To patch things up as best they can
There is no time to hesitate
The speech is made the dues can wait

Black day in July
Black day in July
The streets of Motor City now are quiet and serene
But the shapes of gutted buildings
Strike terror to the heart
And you say how did it happen
And you say how did it start
Why can't we all be brothers
Why can't we live in peace
But the hands of the have-nots
Keep falling out of reach

Black day in July
Black day in July
Motor city madness has touched the countryside
And through the smoke and cinders
You can hear it far and wide
The doors are quickly bolted
And the children locked inside

I was 12 years old, I listened to the radio a lot but I do not remember this song. I definitely knew who Gordon Lightfoot was.

We have over 350 million people in the US and 700,000 police of one kind or another.  If you look at it from the numbers perspective, the number of bad cops doing bad things is small.  Additionally, we have police unions that make it next to impossible to get rid of bad cops (or teachers, or anyone else rep'ed by a strong union".

What happens when we paint any group with a broad brush and demonize them?  The good people who can do other things, leave.  What are we left with?  Those who are dumb and unmotivated.

Any large group is going to have its bad eggs.  Police, military, or "mostly peaceful" protesters.  There are always going to be people who join for reasons other than to serve.  There are those who are going to go bad after joining.  You are never going to get rid of all of them, but we can do a better job of IDing them early and removing them.

things will make the good go bad or quit more quickly than anything I can think of and that is lack of support and leadership at the top.

They lost two good police chiefs in Portland, one a black woman, because of the idiot mayor.  The last police chief, a white woman, just quit so that a black man could be in charge.  He may be great, but right now he has the deer in the headlights look.  It was unexpected, but PC, so...
The people the people are the rightful masters of both congresses and courts not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert it.

Speech in Kansas, December 1859

Hi Folks,

The police said: It's not me! I don't want to do this! It's just my job! Now, where's your guns!

Hi Folks,

Will it get worse before it gets better?

We,... WE... get up and go to work, make a living, feed our families. What are THEY doing? When will things snap?

I think we should:
