Doe's any one here have more than one computer on the same line? If so does it affect either of the computers as far as speed or freezing up? d2
-
We run an ADSL modem/wireless router. So wifi for most devices but the DVD with apps(Netflix etc) is wired in. We run 2 computers, kindles, phones all at the same time and don't experience many problems speed wise or freezing up. My DSL service is 8mbps. Not incredibly fast but as long as the network connection is good it works without issues.
Computer speed/freezing up is usually a computer problem. Slow page loading is a network speed problem.

No affect on freezing. Your downloads will be slower as there are two PCs using the same bandwidth

thanks guys, info helps. d2

Unless you are streaming videos or have a low bandwidth connection you will notice little difference. We have three computers and all of our wireless devices running through our wifi at home.
We never have a bandwidth issue.

I have 100 MBPS so I thought I should not be having a problem. I don't know whether to get away from Windows XP or go for a new computer. Windows 8 is almost half of what a new tower would cost. that is all I need. d2 :)

correction on the 100 MBPS. it is 3 + My son did some work on mine a few weeks ago. At that time he said I needed a new Vido card, That had slipped my mine. will get a new card next week and see how that does. Are any of you using Fire Fox? d2

I use googles chrome browser, but had been using Firefox for a long time. Both are much less junk ridden browsers and less risk than Internet Explorer.

I dumped internet ex years ago. Thanks everyone, and happy surfing. d2

They can all tie up bandwidth depending on what they are doing. Now that everyone has a smartphone and there are several X-boxes and I don't know how many laptops and a couple of apple TV boxes... I'd guess there are over 30 devices on my wireless router...

As per me, you should take help from any technical support service provides for your multiple computers, because they are the PC expert and they solve your any issues easily. Personally I suggest some reliable technical support service provides name such as Geek Squad, Click4Support, iyogi, etc.

If your going to use more than one computer I'd also utilize a service such as Google Drive or OneDrive so you can access your files from either computer. I wrote an article on this, but as the new guy I hesitate to post it.
